FL4RE is a community-focused light-based, public art piece commissioned by STEPS Public Art created in partnership with Sagesse Domestic Violence Prevention Society.
Centre 15 was selected as the location for this artwork as we wanted to contribute to a space that hosts organizations providing vital services for communities, including The Centre for Sexuality, The Women Emergency Shelter, Bridge The Gap, and the Sagesse Domestic Violence Prevention Society. The final design was inspired by community input and our desire to bring playfulness and colour into the lives of those in distress accessing the services.

Community Engagement
With support from Sagesse Domestic Violence Prevention, we installed an on-site ballot at their office to gather individual insights on their understanding of their experience with the space beyond the services to be accessed. This survey intended to have a kid-like approach to increase accessibility and included grounding exercises that asked questions that drew attention to the current emotion.
